Just changed the upper radiator hose (what a pain!) and the temp guage is reading past red constantly, even when I first start it. Any ideas?

Have you removed/disturbed connector from temp sender unit, I think high resistance (infinity) = high temp?
EDIT: See later post re resistance.

I was yanking an a lot of things trying to get that hose off - where is that? I was wondering if I disturbed something. Could it also just be the fluid hasn't circulated yet?

Here is a test to see if the temp gauge is no good. When the car is warm, the temp gauge will show the temp even before the car is started. So here is the test. Turn the car to the on position BUT DO NOT START IT. If the gauge reads all the way past red even before you have started it, you have a bad gauge. If it doesn't move, the gauge may be good and the coolant may not have circulated.

Installed XM Satellite Radio. Replaced bad alternator and 175a fusible link...much fun!

Located on what's called water crossover which attaches to block just behind the two big hoses leaving the water pump. Terminal points towards driver's side. Connector should have w/r wire.
BTW checking the manual my recollection was incorrect; low resistance equals high temp.

Yup, that was it! A little push on the sensor and it's all better. Thanks for the info!
