I am soo MAD right now. I see that most peoples Fan resistor is going bad. Right when summer hit. Go figure.LOL

I have a 97 2.5 with 59915 miles on it. The extened runs out at 60,000. I am sweating right now knowing the history of these things...

Today after taking the kids to the movies I come to find the switch must have crapped out on me...

I still have the infomis "HIGH" setting but none others...

I pulled my LENGTHY sheets of repiar bills from the ford dealer. I save everything... On one of my bills from 1999 the tech checked the swith and it stated due to a recall. He checked it and NEVER replaced it. The bill states"checked the fan resistor, looked fine, NO replacement at this time"!

"WHY" if there was any incling of any type of recall didn't he just replace it for the sake of the recall and my saftey of a posible fire...(THEY ALREADY ALMOST KILLED ME AND MY FAMILY ONCE ALREADY IN A BRAKE RECALL ISUE)Morrons....

I refuse to take the darn car to them. They screw up everything they touch.(no offense to any techs)My Local dealer are morrons.. I can give you a long list of crap they did to us. I should have filled suit after they almost killed us due to sheer stupidness on thier part. Not to mention catching them in lies then admiting clear guilt...

Sorry I rambled on. I am so mad to find that they KNEW about it and never replaced it. After they took the time to "CHECK" it and remove the glove box but was TO LAZY to take 3 more minutes and replace it.Pathetic not to replace a "$8.00 part and waste the time on both our parts, then and NOW"
He most likely never looked at it from what I have found to be from thier track history...

Will they give ME the part so I can do it myself? I will not let those guys ever touch my car again. Even if it was on fire and they were local assistant firemen... I still would throw more gas on the fire than to let them touch the car... NO WAY..... mad mad mad

Thanks for letting me vent.....

well they did the same thing to me- he explaned that untill the part has failure in this instance they cannot replace it - but you can pay to replace it and then FoMoCo should reimburse you for the money you spent-
but hey ill trade your experience for mine-

I had an engine knock that I brought to the dealers attn in Jan. they did nothing and now I have a roasted crank main bearing- IE a total loss.

Horse-

Thats 100% PATHETIC. They did NOTHING? I would sue.... Dealers are horrible at this.. They say

"We have to rip it apart to see what it is" And of course they FIND NOTHING...Due that they'll sneak fix it then charge you for the NO FIND LABOR... I have seen it before and it will continue to happen..

This is just ONE OF my ordeals... Lost my shiffting at a red light. NOT RACING AT THAT EXACT MOMENT! It felt like a large bang in the tranny...

Next day I call my dealer(WHOM MIND YOU KNOWS ME BY NAME) and drop it off. 45 minutes later the inbisile 23 year old service associate calls me back. He claims "Your clutch needs to be replaced, the wear is low to the plate!" OK I say, how much he says $1600 P/L.... I Say OK how did you determine this. He says we moved the "CLUTH GUIDE PLATE"... Then we looked at the clutch plates...

I said OK I'll call ya back.
I get on the phone to my buddy Whom is a sales manager at another ford dealer, far away from me though frown ..He puts his best tech on the phone. He tells me there is NO Clutch Guide plate and that it would take manually removing the tranny to see the clutch. They are lying to you....

I drive to the dealer in my wifes car, barge in and go to the snotty 23 year old associate and demand to see the service manager. Again these guys KNOW me by NAME.... He says hello Sal. By the way thats my name...HA...Any rate he goes 'Whats up'. I say to the kid tell him what you told me on the phone... He repeats himself about the plate and all. The manager says Ok thats correct. I look at him, the snot, and the tech that claimed this to begin with...

I say" I just called another dealer and they claim there is NO SUCH thing as a Clutch Guide plate".. The look on thier faces was priceless... :p :p Absolutely priceless....

Then the manager pulls me aside and says... We'll rip it apart and find something wrong with it. I had to pay for the clutch not the labor! laugh

Turned out that not only did he admit guilt in lying, but forgot he lied and then told me that the clutch plate shattered.... What a morron..

So thats just ONE of my dilemas.. I have many others especialy about the time they did the "E" Brake TSB or recall. They forgot to put one of my brake lines in the rubber gromet so it rubbed against my New tires and broke. Thus Me having to run a red light and almost get sideswiped by a truck thanks to the fluid running out and NO BRAKES... Took the car back and the service associate says SORRY...... OMG Sorry. My kids and my wife almost got killed on a 55MPH highway and he says sorry. I guess thats all he's empowered to do. But That was almost a life removing goof that should have NEVER happened....

I give up on dealers... They have on us as well...Just give them the sale then get OUT....Don't ever show your face around here again.. Thats the impresion I get anymore...

Dealers cannot refuse to repair a failed item on a now out of warranty vehicle if they were alerted to the condition when the vehicle was under warranty. I.e. if your transmission packs up but they get you going just long enough for your warranty to run out they can't refuse to fix it under warranty as the problem existed before the expiration of the warranty period. Good luck.

As per Ford policy, if there is a general recall (not a safety recall) and the part is not broken they will not replace it. I work at a news station and am currently getting one of the reporters to work on this story. If it is a safety recall (and I believe the fan fuse recall is safety) they are supposed to change it. Check out alldata.com for more info.

Bigmoneyracing, the only problem with what you were saying is PROVING that you had the car in there for that particular problem. If they fail to write it up correctly, then you can't prove they looked at it before the warranty was up. After my dealings with one local dealer (who my dad GREW UP WITH) who screwed me by changing the sheet I signed making up some crap about me asking about my heater/blower switch so that they could charge me a diagnostic fee, I get copies of everything I sign now and make sure the problem/complaint is written up correctly.

As for Ford giving you the part, you could always write letters to Ann O'Neill (head of vehicle recall programs) or make a HUGE deal in the showroom. It is amazing what you can get when you make a fuss in front of shopping customers. wink I just prefer to get the parts from Bill or Ford Parts Online and have my mechanic install. It is worth the money for piece of mind. Good luck!

Gl Chick-

Thanks for that info. But get this. After my issue about the brakes I went in the very NEXT morning to speak to the owner of the dealer. I stood in the showroom for 15 minutes and watched some salesman give a demonstration for a buffer to the managers and salespeople. NOT ONE person even acknoledged my standing there NOR asked if they could help me...

Not until I said after the anoying 15 minutes of people looking at me and then looking away did I say.... "Guess NO one wants to sell me a NEW car today"... Then I Had three people looking and at my attention... Bunch of totall wangs....

Then after the clutch ordeal I went right upstairs to the showroom again in search for NEVER seen owner. They wanted me to rant and rave on the showroom floor infront of thier customers. They could have cared less....

Just my 2 cents....

Spankey

I am so burned up at the moment about this cars history. I am tempeted to send the owner a Long letter about his dealer ship and such. And send it every month.......That'l wake him up aint'
