How many people on the forums have lost either rod or main bearings in the 2.5 motor? I seem to be cursed! I just bought another Cougar from Jjennings. In less than 20 miles after I picked up the car the Rod bearings ate crap. The serpentine belt was so small I had to use a crowbar to remove it. Jimmy said the Ford Dealer told him the belt tensioner was going bad. So i picked up a new belt tensioner and belt, and after it was installed the rods knocked like as SOB. Anyone else expereinced the same type of thing. Thanks for any responses.

Doesnt JJennings car have DavidZ's old 3.0L engine? and yes, lots of people have experienced spun bearings.

If it's David Z's old motor and it's toast you can recoup a LOT of money just by selling off those sweet cams he has in there!!!
BTW - if it is his old motor, you have my old crank accesory pulley on it. I have no point for mentioning it, just a random bit of trivia.

David Z old motor was sold and replaced with a duratech motor 2.5 liter...it happend about a month ago, becaus ei was planning on buying the 3 liter block from Jjennings.
Also the duratecs have timing chains not belts!!!!!!
The only thing that the belst would affect is the water pump, power steering, alternatior and A/C units.
Now If he replaced the 3 liter with the Zetec, i would like to see that, because that would be a pain to get the mounts in there.

Jjennings got Davids 1st 3L with the cams - David I think built a new new 3.0 to put in the SVT to sell it.
I thought I read somewhere that the guy in this post had the 3.0 with adjustble cams, which would mean he had "the" davdi z 3.0 - but I could be mistaken?

I bought the car from Jjennings and use the name PaxtonCougar on NECO. This motor does have the adjustable cams. I am trying to find David Z with regards to the motor that he and Jjennings put in the Cougar. According to Jjennings the motor has less than 15,000 miles on it. 10,000 put on the motor by David Z and 5,000 miles while owned by Jjennings. Any help in finding David Z would be appreciated. Thanks.
