I was on my way back to work when my car wouldnt shift into any gear. I coasted into the parking lot. I just picked up my car today from the tranny shop where I had my tranny replaced(mtx-75)
I bleed the clutch but it still will not go into gear(unless the engine is not running) I do get fluid out of the nipple when I bleed. While you are bleeding the clutch shouldnt you feel the clutch line pulse while someone is pumping the clutch pedal? I dont feel nothing. I believe it is the throw out bearing or the slave cylinder(under the dash w/ clutch pedal?) No matter how hard I try it wont engage a gear while the engine is running, any ideas? Also the pedal feels real soft. One more thing when I am trying to engage a gear with the engine running the rpms drop and the car has a slight movement but it feels like I am still locked out of the gears.

Ok a little update, I can see the release bearing move when the clutch is applied. I can also see it moving the fingers of the pressure plate. Tomorrow I am going back up to my work and check it out before I call a tow truck and have it towed back to the shop that I picked it up at. Whew its late gotta go!

The exact same thing happened to me last night! I was driving normally then all of the suden as I was pulling into a parking lot at a store near my house the clutch pedel just gave, and dropped to the floor. Cant get it into any gear when car is on. Same exact simptons. Also it seems as I don't have any breaks as well. It just got out of the shop last week for front bearings and ball joints too. Im so overwhelmed with this damn car yet I still love it to death. Ha. Wish I could help but Im in the same situation. I just had it towed to my mechanic and he is going to get back to me when he finds out what needs to be done. I'll post when I find out today.

I took off the rubber cap/plug that fits over the hole in the bell housing. I then can see the pressure plate fingers and the release bearing. I spent most of the day messing with it. My guess is I do have air getting in the line somewhere and I think its from the O ring on the throwout bearing. My story gets a little deeper the trans shop that put this tranny in for me forgot to put atf in it. I drove it for about 15 miles then I noticed in 5th gear it was whining. I took it back to the shop .... Thats why I am thinking the o ring is toast probably got to hot. Any thoughts of other comments?

Check the hydraulic lines outside the trans for air/fluid leaks first, best sign the release bearing/slave is a problem is hyd oil leaking from bellhousing...

I have looked but havnt seen any. I unfortunently work about thirty miles from my home so access to tools and just the time to steal a car(J/K) to drive to my work.... I think I am going to go back again today. Whats a sign of the slave cylinder gone bad?
