TheGreatOne (CEG'er) called me a few minutes ago and told me that his car had no power when he put the pedal to the floor, so when he pulled off to the side of the road it stalled, when he trys to start it back up it runs at like 200 rpm's and stalls right away even if he steps on the gas pedal no power just stalls.

He said he changed his fuel filter right before SZ and cleaned his throttle body about the same time, all the plugs and wires are connected.

Any ideas?

1) Loose or faulty connection at distributor, coil or alternator
2) Fault in the fuel injection system
3) Insufficient fuel pressure
4) Vacuum leak in intake manifold gasket
5) Impurities in fuel system
6) Incorrectly gapped spark plugs
7) Also check wires for a fault.

Hope this helps

Does he have any codes Bill? If he's around, I can probably take a ride to him with the laptop. Call me at home...

Chris, that's a nice offer...besides, I was in staten island. Too far to have anyone come. Thanks though. Got the car flatbedded to Ford, it was supposed to be there monday for a 4th gear syncro so they'll just look at that while it's there. Looks more like a fuel pump to me. When I was driving.....the car was, I said surging but I meant another word. The engone was jerking, kinda like if you downshift at a high RPM without rev matching....then It started not accelerating at all, though idling fine, then I was takign off from a light and wasn't going anywhere, so I pulled over....it was idling then I looked down and the car had stalled. Can't start it from there. It was idling really rough for a few tries, but, she just stopped starting on me. Sounds like it wants to turn over but never does. Evreythings conencted right..my sparkplug wires are without a wire loom but none are corroded or burnt....I wish it would have happened on my block soI could change the pump myself. Oh well.

sounds like exactly what happened to me the other day. I had about 1/8 of a tank of gas (according to the gauge) and it started a few times but would not move and once I put some more gas in it started back up fine again and has been working fine since (but I have been filling up sooner until I can do something about it since I was a little low on gas at the time.) if you look up something like "returnless fuel pump EXPOSED" in this forum it should tell you about it.

I was on about 1/8 tank, but I've been that low before..what's funny was I was right down the block from a gas station but had no bucket or anything to go try to put some gas in the tank! Still think it's the fuel pump..
