Just got my hands on a 98 Contour SVT, boy what an awesome car. Couple problems though, the speedo reads about ten miles over what its really doing, and the faster you go the more the gap 35mph says im going 45mph, and 80mph says im doing 100mph. So i brought it back to the place i got it, they said that its the speedometer sensor, and that ford fired the people that made it cuz alot of them went bad and there is a nation wide backorder. Are they BS'ing me? Also when it rains i get a puddle on my drivers side floor, seems like its coming from under the drivers side door, anyone else get this?
Thanks in advance for the response guys!

The size of the Tires/Wheels effect speedometer reading.

What size are your tires?

You can probably find out what they should be in the "Wheels & Tires" section.

Or....they could have been tinkering with the gauges by perhaps turning back the odometer.

Regarding the puddles... make sure to check the sealer gaskets around your door. It sounds too obvious, but I had a similar problem that drove me crazy. The seal looked fine on the surface, so after a couple of checks I ruled it out... but all it takes is a little dry rot in the right place - which I finally discovered by replacing it all. No more leaks.

My weather stripping is doing the same thing. I haven't got a new one yet, should be no more than 50-60 bucks new. When you open the door, it is probably leaking about 4 inches back from where it makes the turn to come across the bottom. I'm sure that if you were to get a new one, problem solved.

Congrat's on getting a 98, do you know what number it is yet?

I have a dream, and that is a 69 Boss 302 with Jules Asner in it.
Current - 2002 Chevy Silverado
Former - 98 SVT E0 T-Red 4/4/97 #173 of 6535(so long girl, you'll be missed)
