Hey all, got a question. What would be the best year Focus to get a motor out of for an engine swap? And what are the differences in them, besides the Focus SVT. Thanks all.

Difference is you may be able to fit a few aftermark parts easier, but that's about it. IF you can also use the focus oil pan, etc. and then a header would be easier to fit. I'd think a 2000 or 2001 would be good.
98.5 SVT
91 Escort GT (almost sold)
96 ATX Zetec (i brake to watch you swerve)
FS: SVT rear sway bar
WTB: Very cheap beater

Even if you don't have the answer, you certainly have to admire the problem.

a full exhaust including headers. expensive but worth it! it will perform and sound better. A cheap way to have a better header is to burn the [censored] out of the catalytic converter with a blowtorch. this loosens up all that [censored] that restricts exhaust flow. do that to the szecond one to and put 2.25" pipe and the muffler of your choice and your set. 9mm plug wires to so you can take advantage of the accel coil pack and dbl platinum plugs. if you dont it will burn the cheap ones. mass airflow sensor, throttle body, high torque cams and adjustable cam gears. the list goes on. my advice would be 1 save alot of money 2 look around for the parts you want and develop a plan of attack 3 buy with the intent of actually using

1 there is only 1 cat on the Zetec 2 you realize how big the cat is on our car? 3 with such a large volume of area for heat to build on it will do more harm to performance than it would help

Get a ported 2000-2001 Focus intake manifold. That year is a better design, plus it is port matched to the head & TB, and all the extra material has been removed. Plus it will allow the use of aftermarket Focus TB's.
