hello
im new to the forum. i recentally bought a csvt i have to admit im not a ford guy but i allways thought they where cool so i broke down and bought one. i am regreting it. it ran fine for about 1500 mile's know i have a ticking sound. the tick come's in at about 2000 rpms through the band. the sound gets worse as the car heats up. the tick first occured while i was racing it:(. this is what i know so far. i brought it to a local shop and he does not know much about the engine he told me right off the start. so i took it to a svt dealer in the area and there not much more help. they have the top off and said there is so much sludge in the engine they can not diagnoise it wtf. the sound is from the top end. should i just get the car back and run oil treatment through it to get ride of the sludge(maybe a stuck valve or lifter) or should i let them rack the bill into the multithousands to fix it. mad thanks for your help

No warranty I assume, did you bring it back to the dealer you bought it from? Do they maybe have a short warranty that might cover you? It could be the sign of a bad problem, oil starvation but then again, it could be nothing. Whatever you do, dont just hand the keys over and tell them Ford to have at it, as your bill will be in the multi-thousand dollar range. I would say to take it for another opinion, but if it was oil starvation problem or related, then driving it will mean the death of the motor. Maybe someone else could give you more diagnostic info than I can. Good luck... -Nick

Ticking on the top end leads to tapping, tapping leads to a knock & the knock means the crank has problems ($$$$$).I think you were sold a 'pup'...sorry ,see lots of them.

Terry, are these the symptoms and problems that the DMD is supposed to alleviate or help with? I have a 'ticking' sound for the longest time now and was told it was my fuel injectors firing. The 'problem' hasnt changed sound or frequecy since day one. I do want to prevent the knocking sound you speak of, which is why I am seriously looking into picking one up from a group buy (as soon as I find another job!) Thanks for the help... -Nick
