I look back from the driver's seat and can see light glowing through the backseats, coming from the trunk. Does this light always stay on? 2000 Black CSVT 3.0L Hybrid - 206fwhp & 195fwtq

Because of one of the threads I read on this site, my husband decided to check the trunk light -- and just about branded his thumb, it was so hot. He pried the bulb out and we jump started the car again, and it has started every time since. That light seemed to be stuck "on" for quite some time. Katiecat '96 Contour GL

In previous reports of this phenomenom on '00 models it turned out owner's were simply seeing light from the tail lights, rather than trunk light. In other cases it appeared that trunk light came on with ignition key. None of the threads were conclusive in determining if '99/'00 wiring was different. On my cars, trunk light solely works from microswitch mounted to trunk latch, visible after removing trim from bottom of trunk opening.
