3 Years on this board...and this is my first trip to the problems section (ever). Does that make me a nubie? laugh

Anyway, looked through the search, and didn't see anyone else with this problem (actually got a little concerned over what came up when using the word "WATER").

Needless to say, I noticed that I have a little water in the rear reflector between the tail lights. I pulled the reflector off the trunk lid, and noticed that it's pretty well sealed between the red lense and black plastic. I thought of drilling a hole to let the water escape, but figured more water would probably enter over time.

Anyone else have this issue, and what else could be done to get the water out.

Thanks.

I had water in my rear taillight. I drilled a small hole in the bottom, and then used a compressor to blow the water out from the inside (low psi). I don't notice the hole unless I look for it. I might change the lens one day if I get motivated.

This is that middle reflector right? I don't have one of those, but you should be able to do something similar.

If the reflector is completely sealed then you could probably do two small holes in the back, or bottom. One to blow air through, and one for the water to come out. When it is dry, then seal the holes (and where ever the water came in at) with something water resistant ("Goop" would probably work.)

Make sure you get the water out first. I had some dirt buildup on my reflector gasket that was causing the water to leak in. I cleaned the dirt off of the gasket and put some gasket sealer all around the old gasket and that sealed it right up.

So far so good!!!!!!

Here's a little tip to find the leak. Put the reflector in the refrigerator for a couple hours; then immerse it in warm (not hot) water. You'll see the bubbles immediately as the air inside the reflector warms up and escapes. I would suggest putting it in the sun, possibly wrapped in a black garbage bag to make it even hotter. That will not only serve to dry it out but also to seal it with a negative pressure to better suck in the sealant. Worked well for me!
