I was looking at getting a new clutch kit for my 99' Cougar,we are already putting a new 2.5L in it because the old one blew. I was was wondering if the OEM Grizzly clutch kit was better than the SPEC stage 1 replacement kit or if they basically the same. Has anyone had either of these and are there pros and cons about either. They are both at SP motorsports if someone wants to look. Any feedback would be appreciated alot, Thank you.

Had a Grizzly once. Blew right through it. Get the SPEC.

Thanks guys, I am going to go with the SPEC, I don't like the sound of going through a new clutch. I will let you guys know how I like it. Thanks again.

Ive had both. My stock clutch was getting bad at my first tranny rebuild at 38k, the Grizzly wasn't too bad until I got the 3.0L and it blew out 8 days after I got the car back. I had about 20k on the Grizzly and the whole clutch disk blew apart. Got the SPEC Stage I clutch now and I love it. Im not too thrilled about the clatter it makes at idle, but if you aren't near anything that the sound bounces off of like another car or a drive through, then you can't notice it. Go with the SPEC!!

Are you saying Indiana is full of Amish? I resent that!! Oh wait, no I don't. lol

For me to hear the clatter, my car has to be really close to the car next to me, and I have to be on the right side of their car because of the tranny being on the driver's side. But if it get's too annoying and people are looking at me like my motor is about to let go, I just push in on the clutch, look over with that look as if my car wasn't just making all that noise in the first place. Good times

The thing to remember is that the Grizzle clutch is a OE replacement...so if your not driving hard all the time, you should be fine....the Spec clutch is better form what i ahve heard, but i still love the Centor Force clutch.....also may want to look into a Fidanza flywheel, and a quaife or torrsen diff.....might aswell do everything at once if you got the time and money.
