Ok, I'm hoping that I could get a little help.
Within the last few weeks I have cleaned the TB, sprayed some decarb stuff down it's throat and drove for about an hour with the filter off(just messing around to see what would happen). Since then I have been since experiencing some kind of popping/backfiring-thru-the-intake kinda sound and stuttering until 2500 rpm's.
When I had the filter off, it would die when I took it out of gear to come to a light. After the second time, I put the filter back. The car died twice after that, but didn't run as bad. I took out fuses 4 and 11 to reset the computer, let it sit for about an hour, put them back and after about 5 minutes of cranking, it fired up. I let it run for about 20 - 25 minutes then drove it for 30 mins around town. No problems at first. Now, it's doing the stuttering thing mentioned above. It only does this in first gear and doesn't matter whether it's cold or been driving all day.
BTW, it's a 98 SVT.
I've checked all the intake hoses, plug wires and MAF.No codes either or other performance prblems. I did a search and didn't come up with anything definitive. Any help is greatly appreciated. TIA, Mike

The Cat, eh? That kinda makes sense because I used TB cleaner, which I've heard can mess up a Cat. Thanks, Mike

Check the dog too. How do you know what fuses are what number? I tried pulling 14 on the inside once to kill fuel pump, but it killed cd player, mine aren't numbered and i don't have a fuse box cover on the inside.

I checked the dog, but he didn't have much to say other than the cat was playing with the gerbil that was dating the ferret and the ferret told me... oops, said to much. The numbers are underneath the fuse box cover on a diagram. Does anybody know for sure how to check the cat converter? Mike

Drive the car for a while, so it will get to regular temperature, then you have to look underneath the car and see if the cat is "glowing", it should get red and very hot from all the gas trying to get out.

I let a little too much of my imagination out there. I've got issue's. lol @ me I still had the MAF filter in there, so I doubt that. If it's not the Cat, aany other idea's? Thanks again, Mike

I've got to thinking, if the cat was f'd up, don't you lose power? I haven't, at least enough the butt dyno can feel. It certainly wouldn't be my car without issue's. I think sqplus's bad luck maybe rubbing off on me, Mike
