Don't mean to be a posting pig but, I had some tranny work done on my 95 Contour MTX and now I notice that if I come off the highway after running the car at highway speed for a couple of hours that the first couple of times pushing the clutch in is very stiff and then in 30-45 seconds the problem is gone and the pedal is great again. I'm wondering what's happening on the highway that would do this - to much heat buildup in the MTX - the fluid is pretty lite. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Rob

I would have to check on that. What is the possible fall-out if it wasn't?
Thanks,

Mine has done this since I first got the car and to my knowlage the car is on it's original tranny and clutch. It had 27k when I bought the car and currently has 62k.

my car does that also, but like zetecracing I think it is the original trans and such. I got the car with 83k on it. The first throw getting off the highway is stiff and then it is fine

is your transmission pretty hard to shift in the mornings?

I am the original owner of a 2000 SVT and have noticed the same thing occassionally. It has never concerned me.

Thanks for all the great feedback. I don't think I'm going to worry about this one. Yes the tranny can be a little stiff in the morning if it's cold out. I have a pretty lite fluid in the tranny right now so it's shifting really well, that and it's warm out so that helps.

Thanks,
Rob
