Fifteen months and 40,000 miles later, the Contour and I shall not be seeing 200,000 miles together.

I have a blown head gasket. I am told with the current mileage (193K) that the head and related components are probably trash, and its just not worth fixing the Zetec.

So I am selling or trading it, depending on what opportunity presents itself first. Unfortunately, I'll be leaving Contourland as this car was always a little too small for someone my size, and about once or twice a month I would need to use my wife's van to transport my video and/or football team equipment. I had Wranglers and Cherokees for about twelve years before the Ford, and will probably go that way again. No flames please!

My wife and I also kicked around the idea of entering the car in the demolition derby at the Spencer Fair (spencerfair.org)next weekend. I do not have the time, tools or knowhow to ready the car for such an event, and once prepped, I have no way of transporting the car the 30 miles or so to Spencer. A cool idea, but on such short notice....

And to top it all off the water inlet connection on our washer machine broke off, flooded my downstairs; need new carpet, new washer and a visit from the plumber and I'm 2200
dollars lighter! Of course this all happened the day after writing my kids' school tuition check!

But anyway, I want to thank you all for your patient help and friendship. I always was made to feel like a member of the family here. I'm sorry I never was able to get that meet at my house going. Working most weekends, and lots of rainy other ones, I was never quite able to get my sh*t together enough.

Take care, God bless, and good luck to you all.
Thanks for the ride!

Just because you don't own a Contour doesn't mean you're not a CEG'er.

Sad to hear about the poor 'tour though! Good luck with your car search. No more recognizing the dual-tailpipe Zetec around the neighborhood, eh?

I love Jeep Wranglers!!

Sorry to hear the bad news regarding the Contour.
It was nice meeting you and hopefully you still lurk around these forums!

Take it easy.

may not be the right time to ask but are you going to sell anything you put on the car? I might be interested in the svt exhaust and the cta intake

Best of luck! Got good mileage out of your car nontheless...!

Re: next vehicle, if you are considering a small SUV - I would consider taking a look @ the Liberty. At first I thought it was kind of a soccer mom SUV, e.g. Saturn Vue, but as it would turn out it has more SUV-esque attributes than unibody car traits. E.g. 8" wheel travel, optional full locking diff OR full time AWD, etc.

You can get a decent Liberty out the door for around 20'ish. If you wanted to go the more car route - the Escape is supposed to be pretty good.
