Hi,
I was at a friends house today and when I went to leave my car decided that it didn't like to idle anymore and would stall. It stalled everytime I started the engine unless I gave it some gas. When the engine warmed up a bit it idled really low (400 RPMs). I called my uncle who is a Ford mechanic and he told me to disconnect the negative battery terminal and then attach it again after a few minutes. After I did this the car idled at 1250 RPMs then slowly fell back down to about 850. I haven't taken it for a drive since then but it seems to be fixed. I know the last part is the computer relearning the idle speed but my question is why did my car do that in the first place? I think it was my IAC but I'm not sure. Anyone have any ideas?

How does the car act when you drive it?

That symptom you described sounds like when my IAC went bad.

Ford claims it's due to the open air intake I have.

Open air intake... riiiiight, that's why mine did the same thing with the stock intake. They'll try and find any reason to blame it on you, won't they?

But yeah, before they replaced my IAC, I would get the weird idling/stalling problem.
