Me and my girlfriend are riding down Southfield Rd. close to 10 mile on Wed, and a blue ST220 with manufact. plates comes rolling up on the side of us! She is all like what kinda car is that? It has a ford oval on the grille, I look over and I damn near rear ended the car in front of me.. I had her take a couple pics with her 35mm and as soon as I get them, I will post them. WTF is that doing over here?

They got to test them out you know. Got to make sure they are familiar with the European product, maybe borrow some good features.

Maybe it's a sign they will actually bring the car over here to sell. ARE YOU LISTENING FORD? You have NO car in the midsize category in the U.S. BRING IT ON OVER AND WE WILL COME.

Wouldn't the Taurus count as a midsized car?

Ford has an Escort, Focus, Taurus. They used to have the Escort, Tempo, Taurus. Then they replaced the Tempo with the Contour (and oh what a replacement it was). But now they have no car in the Tempo/Contour size range, but the Mondeo is perfect. Personally the Focus is a little smaller than I like and the Taurus is a little too big. The Contour is a little larger than the BMW 3 series and the Audi A4. It's actually closer the the BMW 5 series and the Audi A6. The beauty, in my opinion, of the Contour was the bang for the buck. Particularly for the SVT. I would love to see the Mondeo ST 220 available in the US market.

Ummm, YES!

You mean they don't have a compact I believe. The Focus should be classified as a Sub-Compact, then the Contour was a Compact, Taurus is mid sized, and the Crown Vic is the full sized.

Actually. The new Mondeo is even bigger than the contour. So it's getting close to the size of the Taurus. Hence, IMHO, the reason why they stopped bringing the MK2 design over, and kept the Taurus. Boo on Jack the Knife for that. We can't replace the Taurus, Noooooooo.
Since the Mondeo mk3 is so close to the current Taurus, they could easily make it a replacement Taurus...you've got the sedan, like taurus, you've got a hatch, one UP on Taurus, you've got a wagon, like the Taurus....C'mon that name is so synonymous with boring and give Ford such a boring "name". It would only do good to replace it with a Mondy.
