Thank you kindly. The information although it doesn't solve my problem lends hand to what I should look at next.

IMHO it seems as if I should focus on the CC assy in the engine compartment. I have lost a power window and these two devices share a common caracteristic. That being theycontrol a surface via a pulley and a steel braided cable.

Does anyone know of a method that I can use to verify that the cruise control motor is functional or is there yet another logic controller between the motor and the drivers controls in the steering wheel.

Thanks again horseydug your contributions to this problem has been most appreciated.

Your efforts will ultimately be of great benefit to someone in need.

My wife and I are going to donate this vehicle to a local battered womens shelter, in Tampa, in February as that is when the final payments are to be remitted to the bank. As well as once we are somewhat certain that the car will not be an anchor around the neck of the recipient.

We had considered paying for some needed repairs before handing it over as we didn't want someone to have to be faced with transportation maintenance problems. That is until I stumbled over this website.I have successfully solved many of these issue thanks to this website, its forums and the contributions of so many people. When we turn the Contour over I intend to solicit them for a letter that recognizes this sites contributions to the integrity of the car and thusly the independence of the bequeathed.

Thanks again and have a pleasant

Sit on your horn and see if the fuse blows within 30 seconds. I have this problem. I discovered that my CC doesn't work either and they share a module. I am going to swap out the modules before I have my mechanic check the springs. The thing is my CC worked before they did the wire harness recall. Too bad I didn't realize it wasn't working until after the warranty for that work was up. When I tried to get the diagram for the new wire (since it is different from the stock harness listed in Haines), Ford refused. So I am not sure if that was part of the harness they had to replace. Let me know what you come up with.

I am sure that this holds true for my 96 as well. My wife was the primary driver at the time and to the best she can recall the failure was recognized after the wiring harness work was done. But just as with yours ours it too far out of warranty to push the issue with Ford.

I appreciate your chiming in on this topic and will give my horn a good 30 second test today. Since I live and drive in Tampa, home of the $|-|ttie$t drivers in the world, this should not be to difficult of excercise. I will let you know tonight what I find out.

I have a good contact at a lincoln dealer where I take my Lincoln LS to for frequent repairs and will see if I can solicit him for some information. l8r d@z3
