I decided that I needed rear wheel drive and a care that could easily be built to handle a C5 Corvette for under 15k car price included. So I bought a 94M Miata. I will still hang around tyhe boards though and spread the good miata word. Will also post some vids of my car in some RWD Burnout Action. Future Upgrades Inlude: FMII Turbo from Flyin Miata All New Transmition, and Numerous other goodies that should be good for around 240 HP to the wheels at around 9-12 pounds of boost.

cool - welcome to the CEG-chapter miata owner's club. lol.
bought my '00 evo orange LS 3 weeks ago and am loving it - the FMII kit is definitely sweet, though i don't see myself having $5k to plunk down on it anytime soon.
good luck w/ it!

That's the understatement of the year. LOL Looks good. Hope the miles are low enough so the engine will handle the additional hp.

Sweet ride. Ex-'96 Miata owner myself. I'd recommend a real roll bar both for safety and to really tighten down the rear of the car. Hard Dog is the most prominent supplier and they make a double hoop Cobra-style real roll bar (not style bar) that is sweet.
The motors are stout on Miatae. I've seen 80k+ mile Miatae be turbo'd without any problems. The motor was designed for the 323GTX, Mazda's rally homologation special. Oil squirters on the pistons, extra-beefy con rods, etc. Those motors can easily make 250RWHP all day long. Flyin' Miata is the original Miata turbo specialists and they have very well-developed products at competitive prices and unmatched support. Shiv Pathek, owner/operator of Vishnu, now a WRX/Evo tuner, is also very accomplished in extracting power from turbo Miatae, especially with the TecIII computer. I better stop...

Indeed, there is not a lot to worry about with the turbo. My 94' is going to roll over 90k this week, and has not exactly led a charmed life. Ok, its actually been ferociously whipped and beaten. Pre turbo it visited the rev limiter a few times daily, and is still happy as can be. Sadly just doesn't get revved as much anymore, thanks to that pesky huge torque boost;-) Granted I'm only pushing 7psi, but more boost wouldn't be an issue, a great many miatas have done just that.
I got one of the first Hard Dog Hard Core Double Diagonals made, and wouldn't trade it for anything. Great looks and immense stiffening.
Where in Oregon are you located? There are a pair of great Miata clubs active in Oregon, and an excellent supplier of toys in Portland. Plus we have one of the great Miata gurus living here. He built one of the meanest FM miatas around, sadly he had to sell it to buy a house, now he just has a tweaked N/A car. His car was insane. 285/290 at the wheels, daily driver capable. Pretty darn fun I thought!

The Greddy turbo kit and Saab FMIC are sitting in my garage awaiting installation this winter. Looking forward to owning a pair of turbo Mazdas! I'd love to go the FMII route, but it's so friggin' expensive!!! I'm hoping to do 200rwhp at 8-10psi for under $1500 in total (Greddy Kit, Saab IC, MSD ignition retarder, guages, and other misc). Good luck with your new toy!

No, Eric Vaillancourts' blue car, "Sudden". Got to drive it a few times, wish I'd had the cash to purchase it when he sold it:-( I would of course had to have taken the body back to stock like it was when I first drove it, WAY more humiliating for the opposition!
I too would have loved to do an FMII, but instead became a guinea pig for my friends businesses turbo kit. Since there wasn't a greddy type kit available for 1.8s, we figured we'd make one, removing most of the problems the greddys had from the get go, since their teething problems are fairly well known. I just dropped my car off at his house on the way home from work tonight, its going back to the dyno for some more play time, while I'lk be stuck at work. Oh well, at least I got his 1.8 J-spec powered 323 GTX for the day. 225 horsies at the wheels in a 4WD bubble of death is a fairly decent substitute!
