How do I do it? I want  to reset the check engine light. The little tube came out of my air intake thing, and the check engine light came on and the car would not run. I put the tube thing back in and the car runs fine now. The problem is, the check engine light is still on. You can probably tell I do not know the right names for parts, but I can find the way if someone will tell me.

Disconnect the negative (black) battery cable. There is always a discussion about how long it needs to be disconnected. IMHO 30 minutes will be sufficient.

Pull fuse #4 and #11, won't lose radio channels like disconnecting the battery. Did it myself last week, works good. There's more info on this site about the procedure, try a search on CPU reset or something like that.

With the Ford factory CD player, you won't lose stations by disconnecting the battery. You'll just lose the time and your bass / treble settings. Easy enough to modify.

BY THE WAY... Fuse #4 and #11 refer to the main fuse panel UNDER THE HOOD NEAR THE BATTERY, not in the passenger compartment. You should pull the fuses & lay them on top of the recepticals they plug in to, loosely place the cover over the fuse box & wax your car, or polish the wheels, or perform some other routine maintenance task. I suggest you read the manual where it says "Do not use Mercon V as it may damage the internal components of your automatic transaxle". Two minutes is usually enough time. Some people suggest 10 seconds is enough, others like to let it sit for twenty minutes or more. 
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

From what I've read, the reasoning behind the 20-minute rule is that there's some sort of backup for the computer's memory for when you change the battery. I don't know whether that's really the case or not.

Thanks for all of the replies. I have only had the Tour for a month now, and I was worried about finding a good group. I used to be a Prelude owner and I had a great group of guys to hit up for questions. It seems you guys are a wealth of knowledge.
