OK, I replaced two thermostats, both in 1995 V6 cars. I think that they were original, as they were alike. Both were stamped 180. I bought the first replacement at the Ford dealer, a Motorcraft RT-1104. Was Identical to the original, with a "STC" on the flange, and the copper button with a 180. Paid over $11. Bought the second from Advance Auto, a Stant 14138. Was identical to the one in the Ford box, "STC" and 180. Cost was something over five dollars... gotta love it. Both cars have the temp gage reading the same, around the O and R. I think it was the same with the original units. The associate at Advance said a 180 will be fully open between 188 and 190. Sounds good.
