Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I could not find anything from my searches that really answered the question.

I would like to do work on my car and will be wanting to put it on jack stands. I was going to jack the car up at the "emergency jack" points one at a time and put the stand under the car, but I am not sure where it should be.

Should it be close to the same point as the jack (along that rail that runs along the length of the car)? Is this the same location I would choose if I am storing the car and want to jack the car off its wheels for a extended length of time? If not, where is the best place?

I read those but no one was specific enough about where the jack stand would go if the hydralic jack was already using the factory jack point. I just wanted to be sure.

I'd jack the car up on the subframe bolt and then place the jackstands on normal jacking points.

or the opposite. jack up on stock location. might have to drive up on some wood for clearance. then place a jackstand at the end of the subframe where the big bolt is. use a piece of wood in between the stand and the subframe

Front's easy... Just jack the car up at the usual spots at the rocker panels, and place the jack stands under the subframe bolts as has already been mentioned.

The rear, however, isn't quite as simple. As far as I can see, the most likely spots to put jack stands would be on the forward ends of the rear suspension trailing arms, or on the flat portion of the underbody between the trailing arm and the fuel tank. Main thing is, find a FLAT and STURDY location.

Whatever you do, if you use the factory jack points with anything but the factory jack, take care not to crush the flange that would normally fit into the slot of the factory jack. I use small wood blocks placed just on either side of the flange.

Good luck!

or - buy a set of ramps for the rear.
i can't use the ramps in the fronts cause my car is too low, however, the rear...enough room to drive up.

hugo my car would clear the rhino ramps by mere centimeters, maybe 2-3. that was stock suspension. now i should be able to get on them using wood. its how i can get my jack to clear the side skirts to lift the car after doing gc's/konis.

I usually put the stands on the subframe just in front of the bolts.

Near the front jack points just an litle further inward you see what look like rails with holes in them, use those! On the rear jack it up a little short, i.e. closer to the front, of the jack points and put the stand under the rear jack points.

Andy W. The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
