I was driving home going through the gears and then the shifter broke on me in 3rd gear. I wasn't driving hard at all. Thank gosh it wasn't on the freeway or else I would have been screwed. Come to find out that the ball joint where the cable connects to tore off the shifter itself and its thick metal too!! For those who want to get it beware, I've had this shifter for two years now and its been a dream until today. B&M is going to hear from me real soon.

Quite common on Focaljet as well. I've been holding on to my stock shifter just in case this happens to me. If it does, I'll get my replacement from B&M, sell it, then get a Focus Central shifter - theirs seems to be beefier in that area.

Sounds like the same thing that happened to me. I just had it welded better then the factory did it. Works like a champ now.

I put on the stock shifter back on, but the response just isn't the same anymore. As far as the ball joint goes it disappeared somewhere after it broke lose. Plus I hurt my back redoing it.
