Well, I had the tranny rebuilt last month for the third time in seven months. After a weeks of having a nicely running ATX, problems have resurfaced. Nothing like what they were before, but still annoying and enough to warrant worry.
The other day I was able to click off a top-speed run, and something interesting happened. Keep in mind I've run this car to the speed governor (about 115) a few times. The car was pulling hard through all gears, as it normally does, up until 105 (about 5000 rpm in third gear). At that point the tach needle bounced back to 4500, like it had hit the governor. The car still had a ways to go until redline, and it wasn't even in 4th yet.
I let off the throttle and the tranny shifted to 4th, then the car slowly climbed to 115. I floored it again from 100 mph, and the same thing happened. There was no acceleration above 5000 rpm in 3rd, and it would not upshift to 4th while floored.
I also have had a problem keeping my negative battery cable attatched, so every now-and-then the computer resets itself. Could this have something to do with the tranny misbehaving? Improper calibration of the system or something when the cable restores power? I do notice the tranny shifts harder after being reset.
Any help is appreciated! -Rob
