I had a problem with my 99 V6 SE, i took it to ford and they told me they would water test it for me for like $100, and i was like to hell with that, ill do it myself. i got in the trunk with a flash light and had a buddy pressure wash the back of my car (at a coin op place) and low and behold it wasn't the trunk at all, it was coming in from a poor seal in the window. i had the window re&re'd for about $100 cdn, and when the took the back window off a strip of about 4-5 inches of sealer was never in contact with the body of the car. just a thought.
the water was coming in though the hinge on the drivers side.
hope this helps!!

Loose spoiler has been the subject of several threads, however, I've never seen it mentioned as a source of leaks. Most sources mentioned in the below thread, including rear window seal mentioned above.

trunk leaks

Note: Your three extraneous multiple 10:00pm posts have now been deleted, perhaps a software glitch.

I was fooling around with that trunk vent the other day because my trunk has been leaking. The rubber strip came apart in my hands-I'm thinking that was the cause. But someone said in some forum that you have to take the bumper out to properly remove the vent. There's got to be another way.

OK, you offered, exactly how do you check the trunk vents. Our trunk has been wet on the drivers side ever since we bot the car, I always assumed it was the trunk seal, since we have no spoiler. So how does one go about doing as you suggested ?

I had water in my trunk also. What i did was take the lights off sprayed some spray adhesive on the back of them and silicone the top where the rubber stops are for the trunk. Around the black thing. Kinda hard to explain.

I had the same problem and it was the trunk vents. I think you can see them behind the trunk carpet lining on the sides of the trunk.

To repair the leak I recommend that you remove the rear bumper which is really not very difficult- just a few bolts here and there, maybe a screw or two in the wheel wells, and the thing pops right off. Once you do that you will have easy access to the trunk vents on both sides. Pop the vents out, remove the rubber/foam seal and replace with gobs of black RTV sealer.

Let dry and your problem should be solved. Just remember to put the bumper back on.
