I'm about to undergo a major tranny rebuild and while the car is apart, I was considering mods. Anyone know of a good header for this car and how much it would cost?

Hi cindy - welcome aboard! sorry for the bad news regarding the tranny but to answer your question - yes - there are headers for the Ford Contour.
The company that makes them is MSDS. Click the 'search' link up top and search for that (you can select the Group Buy Forums) and plenty of discussions that will answer any and all questions you may have will show up.
I personally have these headers, and love them....

customcougars.com has some stainless steel headers for the cougar, I hear after the prototypes they got their quality up, I think they should work on a tour

They will not work on a contour without a lot of modification. (They are made for the new (late 01+) Cougars) Also they are below average quality.
Buy the real MSDS headers if you are interested in headers. Not some cheaply made knock-off.
There is a wealth of information about & against them is a few old posts...

I think this is the same Cindy from the old mailing list from a few years ago, right?
MSDS headers are what I have, they're mild steel with a ceramic coating. Weapon R makes a lesser quality (read: poorer built copy) in stainless steel.
