Hello. Just want to be sure I'm correct: I have a 97 SE. I want to replace its regular Duratech, which is blown, with an SVT Duratech. I found one locally with low miles and good compression for the same price that a regular Duratech would cost. No problem installing the SVT Duratech in my SE's engine compartment, right? All the information I found while using the search function says I'm correct, but I just want to be double sure. Anything I should know before I get my checkbook out? Thanks so much.

I'm doing the axact same thing! Only thing you need to take into account is 1. The extra oil to water pump the SVT engine has, which should come with the engine anyway, it has two lines I think, running into the water resavour tank (correct me if I'm wrong SVT owners), also the computer for the SVT engine.
Thats about it. May also need the SVT TB, accel cable etc assembly. How much did you get your SVT engine for?
Can you beat $1200 for 35k mile engine complete with a/c compressor, p/s pump, water pump. NICE! laugh

Thanks. OK, that gives me some things to think about should I take that plunge. And yikes, forgot about the computer. Won't be able to take advantage of the SVT Duratech's power without it now will I.

So, computer and accelerator assembly cable. Got it. Anything else SVT gurus?

$1,300 for a '98 with around 40K. Looks like you got me beat. I'm going to check it out during my lunch break.

Sweet deal! Mines a 99 so I got the extra 5hp too laugh

Keep us posted on the swap! When are you doing it? I still have to get mine shipped from TX.

Matie:
I was going to go with the complete 3L engine but is too much messing around, not to mention that know one in Vegas would be able to do it for me, I was going to send my car to CarDoc to have it done but don't have the money in time. So the SVT engine it is. Next best thing for sure!!

Well, so much for that deal -- it's already been sold to someone else! Guess you can't trust info on the Internet to be up to date. No kidding, right? Great waste of my lunch break. The search continues ....

I read that you can't use the SVT computer because of the PATS system...

Bill Jenkins did it in his Mystique I believe. Not sure what year his car was though.
