Um at the track last night I lined up next to a very sexy black Tibueron. The last post about these I asked what kind of hp they have and how fast they were yada yada yada. Each person seemed to agree that the cars were very nice looking but not all that special under the hood. Well let me tell you that I know my SVT is not a drag car and that it isn't insanely fast and all. But I still figured that I would leave this guy behind, due to the fact that it's a Hyundai and I was told that it wasn't very fast. Well to my surprise it was absolutely neck to neck with this guy. We both started slowly, and once we were rollin' we both punched it. Nobody pulled on anybody. Both of our shift points were nearly identical, and I think he expected to win just like I did. I tell you what though I don't know if he had mods or what, but that car sounded damn good at WOT. Didn't have a whole lot of room to finish the race because there were traffic problems up ahead on the track . But if I had to call it I would be forced to call a tie. It was a very good race though. Just thought I would share for those who thought the new Tibbies were pooches. Not the case.

They have less power but they are lighter too, so it evens out. 1/4 mile times are mid 15's, same as most stock SVT's

Sounds like you need to start modding.

i actually looked into getting a new Tiburon last year before I started modding my car. The V6 comes with 180hp and they do weigh significantly less than SVT's do.

also came with a pretty nice stock stereo system too

but I just decided to start modding the tour but now am in search for my first SVT.

Crazy how some tracks will let you still run even though there are traffic problems ahead. I am glad that ours here in Colorado does not do that. With all these insane drivers here, something bad would for sure happen.

As far as the tie goes, I am possitive that you would pull on him at the end of third. I don't care if their times are in the mid 15's..... YOU HAVE TO DO IT, IT IS A HYUNDAI.

And if it beat me, well then I would mod my car until it was not even close. But thanks for the heads up. My buddy bought a Silver Tibueron MTX and does nothing but talk trash. I just look at him and

I love reading these stories. It is nice to see that an "old" out of production vehicle can still keep up with the new "sports coupes" out there.

but thing is...that guy only spent $17,000 on his car. Our cars weren't put here to do their damage on the drag strip. They were put here to run with the BMW's, Audi's, VW's...all the german cars.

Damn right! DMD- a week or so, sho off-road y- month or so, magnaflow res and mufflers- before or after winter, fidanza flywheel- next spring, headers of some sort- next summer, accusump- next summer. KONIG TANTRUMS- on the way baby! There's obviously other things I could do...maybe some lighter pullies or something. But those are my main concerns for the next year.

Again I'm not sure about his setup on that Tibby, but it sounded very nice. I was glad to actually have a good race with him.

Point taken, but I can imagine the look on the person's face when they couldn't pull on a 4 door Ford..

true dat. I was actually asked the other day what people fascination was with a CONTOUR. Especially the SVT version.

I simply explained to the guy in as least words possible that the car is just absolutely awsome. It is just an awsomely fun car to drive.
