I was wondering if anyone has been to belize. Since my girlfriend of five years left me i think i will spend the money i was saving for "the ring" on a trip to belize. Since it is an english speaking country and isn't as touristy as some of the south american countries which=cheaper i have decided that is where i am going. If anyone out there has been there and has any advice on where to stay and what not let me hear about it.

Man if you blow that money you've saved up, you may regret it. (Just a word from the wise)

Since i have noone to keep happy but me i am currently working overtime whenever possible so the money i had saved for the ring is seperate from my other savings(which the tour will probably eat). Besides that after the belize trip i am probably going to move back to FL and reclaim my better paying job.

I don't consider a trip to belize as blowing money because the only things we truly possess in life are the things that we have experienced. Noone can take my memories from me and seeing as i don't have a wife or kids i really don't have any responsibilities to anyone but me and money in the bank can't make me happy if i have to sit in my house all the time. OH and i guess i should have mentioned i have a pension plan which i am vested in and i have a couple of small investments that i haven't touched yet.

If it's a "temporary" break up, like most couples experience, you'll regret if you reflexively blow off the monetary savings you had invested in the relationship, it may come back to haunt you.

But if you're sure it's permanent (which is quite impossible, given my experiences), then go ahead and take a trip. I wouldn't go somewhere exotic, though. Instead, I'd pick a couple American cities I've never been to and go have fun there.

Vacations are always good.

Well she told me she was leaving me a month ago and since then i have explained to her how i feel and asked her if we could at least try to see if we could work it out, lets face it five years isn't just a fling and i am not willing to throw it away. Well she isn't even willing to try to work things out, which would be pretty hard as she says that she doesn't even know what she wants. She says she left me because she feels that she needs to get back in touch with herself. Besides if it does work out between us i am not going to propose any time soon as i now feel that she would have to show me all over again that she wants to be with me. So how about that belize.

That's a good point bro....usually the whole "I'm leaving you so I can find myself" is a charade for more attention or whatever other reasons.

Now I change my mind, you need to "find yourself" in Belize.

F*ck it, just go. You can always make more money. How many chances will you have again to do this? IMO, just try to enjoy life, f*ck everything else. Especially if your only responsibility is yourself. I don't know anything about Belize, just counteracting everybody else's posts. How can you not love a country full of Latin women!
