Before the search nazis attack, most people believe that the best intake for the money is a MAF adapter plus a large K&N filter (sorry, don't have the part number but if you search you'll find it). Then buy a plastic bin of some sort and cut it to fit around the intake and add weather stripping to it and you have a nice little heat shield. All this can be done for under $90 easily.

ru-3530 is the part number of the big ole k&n filter and most people use a rubbermaid trash can for the heatshield. It's cheaper and seems to be just as good if not better than the premade intake setups.

there has been a big argument about whats better on this topic and whats the best price. i got totally shot down for some appraent reason cause i bought the cougar fipk kit and adpoted it into the contour perfect fit by the way. i spent 250 bucks for the kit and everyone was jumping down my back saying it was a waste of money. i dunno about you but in the k&n fipk kit you get 2 filters one for the intake itself and one for iac an intake tube and a well put together heat sheild. but if you want to save some money and put a waste can in for a heat sheid thats all up to you all i know is i sure as hell don't want a waste can under my hood. plus another good thing about the kit is that it comes with a c.a.r.b sticker so that the intake passes emissions.

can you show us a pic of the kn fipk kit?? I didn't think it would fit an CSVT?? Any battery relocation issues? $250 is pricey, but if you're getting the whole setup + the filters and heat shields, it's worth it if it does work. But, temp's are so high under duratec hoods, even Terry Haines agrees that the heat will inhibit performance (hot air, retarded timing, less hp, etc.) Personally, I wouldn't want to run the risk of detonating on my high CR engine, that's why I keep the stock unit in place with an AFE filter, but if kn did enough RD to produce something with descent insulation. . .sweet!

I'll stop here before I put someone to sleep with my bs. . .
