Greetings everyone.
I need advce on this one and fast. I have a 1999 Contour SVT bought 2 weeks ago at Carmax in Stockbridge GA, (not a good experience.)
Aside from the intermitent CEL appearances and the broken sway bar connector that they can't get to until Tuesday but they diagnosed it on Memorial day, on my way home last night Iwas sitting at a stop light and glanced down and my speedometer and odometer were acting as if I was driving as normal even though I was at a complete stop.
I was curious to see if anyone else has been afflicted with this issue. Thanks for your help guys I truly appreciate it.

Disconnect the vehicle speed sensor and see if that makes the problem go away. If so, it's probably that.

Not being mechnically inclined where would I find the vehicle speed sensor?

It's on the tranny, IIRC. Honestly, I don't know enough about it to describe it real well. You may want to try to get your hands on Haines manual.

Maybe u'r were trippin' on acid and forgot u were trippin' on acid, and u imagined u'r contour has problems. That's it, every1 is on acid, contours r great and have no problems.. Am i on acid? how can what i type be correct then? ignore everything i type.

I disconnected the battery for an hour yesterday and I have not had a repeat of the demon speedometer and odometer but it is going back to the dealer on Tuesday and I'll let them "try" to figure it out. Thanks for the advice guys and Redcon96V4 the first step to recovery is admitting that you have a problem. Get help... quickly.

i had a saturn that did that once- it ended up being the alternator going bad
