I've got a 2000 Duratec that is over in months but under in mileage in regards to warranty so Ford is going to replace my faulty ATX (leaking bypass valve and slipping torque convertor). Knowing that it will be a rebuilt that Ford bought somewhere, does anyone have experience with a rebuilt ATX through Ford. Did similar issues re-occur with with the replacement, too? Any problems with the rest of the car after they lifted the engine and moved parts out of the way to pull it? Did you get an extended warranty on the ATX as Ford is supposedly giving me 3 years or 30,000 miles on the ATX?

You only get 2 yeas and 24,000 miles on the FORD REMAN ATX.
They are supposedly updated with all of the things that have been replaced, and/or upgraded inside the CD4E.
When your tranny is installed, ask them to install a ATX Oil to Air Cooler.
This will keep the temp of your ATX Oil to Operating temp or lower,
and also keep your CD4E health LONGER.

Also change ALL of the ATX Oil in your new tranny at least every 12,000 miles to keep it healthy too !

I spoke with my Service Manager yesterday concerning the coverage of my latest CD4E and the Valve Body modification.
He said that the FORD REMAN CD4E has 3yr/36k mile coverage on both parts and labor with no deductible.

He said that I should wait on doing the modification, since we both think
that the CD4E is going to fail before the 36,000 mile period ends.
When this happens, we can get Ford to warranty the rebuild and modify the Valve Body when the tranny is rebuilt.
I will give him the list of parts that unisys12 has provided us,
to use as a guide for rebuilding this tranny.

Then the tranny will have a 2yr/24k mile warranty if they do the rebuilding.

RoadRunner how much further do you have to go before "the 36,000 mile period ends?"

I just turned 99k miles now,
and the tranny was installed at 85k.
So I've got 22k miles left.

You know that you can't do anything proactive with FORD.

Bunch of LAZY, NO-GOOD, DUMB-A$$, PENNY PINCHING, BEAN COUNTERS...

I would do it on my own, but if the tranny fails
and it gets replaced again, I'll have to do it twice.

So I figure you have two years.

I think you will make it to 2005 with no problems at all.

And we CEGers will be here waiting and listening for your updates

I actually only have another year.

The CD4E was installed October 2002.
By the end of this October I'll probably have close to 20,000 miles on the tranny.
I should hit the 36,000 mile mark by the end of summer 2004.

I have well over 80k on my rebuilt tranny from ford. Just change the fluid and dont run the [censored] out of it and you shouldnt have to worry about a failure. Mine still shifts like it did when they first replaced it.

Well I'm on my SECOND FORD REMAN CD4E.
The first one only lasted a little more than 50,000 miles.
