What up all... Anyone know how much a new MAF and a Air Bypass Valve should go for? I dropped the car off @ Bonnell this am (gave up on fixing the CEL myself). They called a few min ago and said I needed both of the above items and the total is $525. Seems pretty steep. Isn't the stock MAF like $130? I'm so sick of dumping $$$ into cars...

I'll have to look at my receipts when I get home. When I tried to buy a new MAF for the GL, they ordered one for the V6 instead. I dunno about the air bypass valve. did you check fordpartsonline for a price quote? they must be adding some crazy labor charges to that quote they gave you. MAF is such an easy DIY

stock MAF is $130.88 from fordpartsonline.com.
Terry from SentryAutoGroup or Bill Jenkins can get it for cheaper than that.
couldn't find an Air Bypass Valve on the site....

I couldn't find jack on fordpartsonline.com for the Contour. There didn't seem to be any Intake sub-category at all. No keywords worked either. I called the guy back (@ Bonnell) $80 for diag. $170 for MAF $95 for Air Bypass Valve $160 for labor (total was $505 when I called back). I guess they had to bench test the MAF, reprogram my PCM, blah, blah, blah... Replacing the MAF is rediculously east...but I guess there was other stuff. I'm just sick of dumping $$$ into cars this year. I've spent over $1500 in just maintenance & repairs. I could have a new BAT suspension or a quaife instaled for that $$$! Grrrrr...

I thik it's related to the hemostatic thermapulator.
You know, the part that the manual tells the dealership to tack on so they can charge the customer an extra buck fidy
