I recently purchased a 1995 5 speed w/ zetec (4cyl.)

When motor is "COLD" and I try to take off from a start
or when shifting gears and getting back on the gas
the car will "BUCK" and or hesitate. No stalling, car
idles good - new motorcraft fine wire plugs - cleaned
throttle body, mass air sensor, fuel injector cleaner
TPS. - Have not changed fuel filter or plug wires yet
car has 87,000 miles - After the car warms up it runs
like a top!!!!

I Thank everyone in advance for your help solving my
problem !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

God Bless CurtisA

Well the 2 things you have yet to do are the first I'd recomend taking care of starting with the filter as it is the cheapest.

I have similar symptoms.

Right now I think it's my TPS - so far I was unable to
remove the screws to check it out.

About fuel filter: definitely worth replace it quite often
(10-15k) since Contours tend to be picky on fuel filter and
pump, BUT when I had fuel pump problems it caused bad idle,
power loss and even pinging, but no bucking.

Bucking should be something momentary/intermittent problem
and a fuel system degradation is not like that (usually).

A loose plug wire caused some serious bucking/stuttering on my 95 SE (V6). Check the wires and replace if necessary.

i would agree with the previous post about changing the fuel filter... my ztec had a problem of stuttering and stumbling on cold morning startups, which completley dissapeared as the car warmed up.. after i changed the fuel filter and ran some injector cleaner thru the tank, the problem seems to be cured..

oh and welcome to ceg.. enjoy the car..

dont be afraid to corner hard.. these things handle!
