My purring goes away when you turn left....
Bearings can go bad also.
A CV joint normally makes a clicking sound when you turn the wheels all the way and drive in a tight circle. They'll make a loud "click click click" But I'm sure they're are other ways too....

Sounds like a wheel bearing. Jack the front end up and see if either tire has excessive movement.
