After having removed the lug nuts on my 14" steel wheel, right front, the wheel won't come off.It appears to be seized/rusted on.I am in the process of changing over to some alloys that I found in the classifides.Any ideas?
The wheel was off about four months ago and I did hit a curb.
I'll be off to the tire store in a day or two,but I want to get them off before the tire guys, in order that I may clean up the mating surface.

Never tried this on a Contour, but it's worked on other cars:

Put your lug nuts back on, but leave them a turn or so loose. Take it off the jacks and start it up. Move it back and forth a few feet and turn wheels while moving. Jack it up, it should be loose. Good luck, and be careful!

I've successfully used a short piece of 2x4, hitting tire on inside, rotate, hit again: repeat as necessary.

I know this works and was a common practice for loosening up the rear brake drums for maintenance on those "old" cars. It definitely works to free up a rim; I had to do this on my boat trailer about two weeks ago.
