Hi - I'm trying to start playing with my computer - the EEC-V is not transparent like my mustangs (93 and 66 - both jacobs ign, mallory computer). I see diablo and superchips and alpen out there, but I'm looking to do some of it through a laptop to the 104 pin connector live - I know the flash is accessable, just need some how to for this thing. I design ASICs and embedded systems for a living, so I should be able to do this - anyone else got any suggestions - car is my daily driver - 97SE, 5sp, KKM intake, Borla exhaust, SVT springs and struts, baer brakes, 55hp Zex nitrous, 17" wheels and Nitto's. Might put on an SVT intake manifold and injectors, but I'd like to look at varying the injector pulse and ignition timing too. Any help out there?

Andrew

It's not building it that is hard, it's getting the software to communicate that will be largest obsticle.

You probably need the spec sheets on EEC-V. Is that publically available information? A terse search on Google didn't provide much.

I thought about making my own interface for my 6 for OBDII (CAN protocol, specs available) but I emailed Alex Pepper and he said he'll have it in 6 months tops so I'm not going to bother.

But good luck to you man!

I've poked around a bit on my EEC4 and have come across some interesting sites and mail lists for EEC4 & 5.

Tuner forums:
http://www.iwantperformance.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi
http://moates.net/forum/index.php

Products & info:
http://moates.net/index.html
http://www.eec-tuner.com/guieectuner/
http://www.tweecer.com/
http://www.eec-tuner.com/

EECsucka for downloading PCM memory to PC:
http://acc-electronics.com/cloud/efi/amarch/eec.htm

The disassembly and tuning of the code is pretty mature for Mustangs, but I'm not sure how much tuning will cary over to the Duratec. I've got an image of my EEC4 memory on my PC but haven't been able to make much sense of it using the public domain tuning tools. (Too little time, not enough beer... )

I wish you lots of luck and hope you have months of spare time to kill. (No to mention in you are going by just guessing a few PCMs and engines probably)

Not only does each PCM have a different code, but then there are processor strategies, and numerous actual board revisions to work through.

Some versions don't even allow for easy downloading.

I would email the folks at TwEECer and ask them if they have had any luck with your year, PCM style, and processor. That should at least give you an idea of what is in store for you!!!

...and yes... EEC-IV is NOTHING like EEC-V. EEC-IV is simple child's play...

I'd contact Mike Grover first, but last I heard the Contour's PCMs are supported by the TwEECer. ECC-V support is 90% implimented, and should be 100% supported by the time the final v1.20 of the software is available.

HAHAHA, $550? The couple tenths youd pick up arent worth it. Besides, I saw another kit on this forum that does the same thing for $120.

You may have seen a SCANNER for $120, but not a kit that can change any parameter in the PCM on the fly....

Tweecer is the bomb (if your PCM is supported).

There is no product on the market that does everything the TwEECer allows you to do for Ford ECC at any cost. Comparing it to most "other" ECC tuning products is like comparing an 18 piece socket set from Wallmart to a 500 piece Snap-On tool set.
