hey guys, wonder if any of you would have the above mentioned part. It is for a 98 mercury mystique with auto tranny. I need the upper portion of the shifter (black) with overdrive button. The overdrive button on mine doesn't work anymore because the wires that go to button disconnected, and i have no idea how to reattach those wires in the shifter (maybe someone can enlighten me  ) Thanks Nick

Did the wires break? they are very fine guage and hard to work with but electrical tape and some spare wire should do the trick.

the problem is that there is no more wire coming out from the shifter and i am unable to get wire back up there. (unable to open shifter)

Try search in Troubleshooting Forum. There have been a few posts about repairing wiring for o/d button. Here's one: o/d button

linky no worky  but u can buy a generic switch and relocate the O/D switch to your dash or some other spot and tell every 1 that its the passenger eject switch or maybe the rocket luancher behind the liscense plate  pure BONDage
