Guys, Yesterday my car wouldnt start after I took the battery out and tightened the battery tray. I had the radio and lights going all day working on the car and I didnt drive it. I figured it was a dead battery because I didnt drive it. To day I had it on the charger and nothing happend. It just click, click, and clicked with the warning lights on. I jumped it and it started in 2 seconds. I let it idle for like 10 minutes. Drove around the sub with some high rpms and then let it sit. I turned off the car and tried to start it again....Click,click,click.. What could it be? Please help!
Thanks,
Joe

Sounds like the battery is bad or you have a bad connection. If you can get it jumped again, drive to the nearest auto parts store and ask them to put it on their tester. This can help indicate if it's the battery or whatever. If you have a multimeter, you should measure 12V across the battery and 13.5V - 14V when the car is running.

Just did that. I got about 12.6 with the car off and about 14.4 with it running. I left the jumper cables on longer this time. Then I took em off and restarted the car. CLick click click....this isnt making any sense...
Now what?

Get it tested! Your battery is most likely toast, and although it can hold a charge when running, it can't supply enough current to the starter when needed. (You car uses less battery power when running then it does when starting since your alternator isn't charging it back up.) Get it load tested or just buy a new battery!

Hopefully you were measuring the 12.5V without the jumper cables, right? If so, then check the voltage at the battery when you turn the key and it's clicking. If the battery voltage is staying up to about 12V then the problem could still be a bad connection, cable, the solenoid/starter, or maybe a start relay. (Need to look at the diagrams to see about the relay business...)

Well it ended up being the Battery. Went back to Sears and got a new one for free. Thanks for your help guys. Very weird, it was reading correctly on the Multi-meter, but the it wouldnt even power the load tester.
It starts now!
