The wife and I came up with the same idea. Leave it carbon fiber. If you paint it it just wouldnt come out real smooth pluse no one but you would know it's carbon fiber. Also you would have to paint the whole car. The paint on the hood would be newer and would always be a shade or 2 off and it would turn funny in a couple of years, cause they would try to age the new paint. A freind is dealing with that now on a 300zx with the vailside kit. The pearl white on the body kit is off from the car. The carbon fiber looks damn good leave it that way(well I would)

The reason your friends 300zx's body kit is off on the color is because who ever painted it doesn't know how to spray a let down panel. That would have made it easy to get a perfect match, even though pearls are one type of paint that is a MPITA to match.
Your hood would be cake to match to the rest of the car, but it would have to be blended into the fenders if done right. That wouldn't be that much to do.....

Sometimes I like the way it looks. Sometimes I don't - like when I pull up next to a Civic w/ an unpainted CF hood.
Well, since you seem torn sometimes, I've got a black CSVT that you could donate it to anytime
In all seriousness it looks great. The gleam from the sun on unpainted carbon fiber can't be beat!

I say paint it without a doubt. you leave it two-tone like that and it looks like a 16-year old escort with the mismatched, multicolored body panels from previous accidents or something.
No way. Not in a lifetime would I paint just my roof and trunklid black and leave the rest silver. Sure it's a great idea, but not one I'd execute on my car. It just looks...wrong...
Cars look best monochromatic. My vote goes to painting it.
That looks sick right there. I would do it exactally how mikeyboy says. Some guy i know runs around in a white wrx w/ the cf hood, lights, and rear trunk and it looks so mean.

I feel that the point of a carbon-fiber hood on a contour would be for looks rather than a weight reduction. If you want to paint it then trade me. I think it looks great as is.

And if you have seen a solid CF race car nothing is cooler looking,PERIOD! BTW the race cars are not shiney CF they are flat in color........
for some the point is weight not looks.
a passer-by might even think that anyone who would put a carbon hood on a contour is a dumb a$$ so why bother trying to please other people. (unless of course you are sure that you like the way it looks)
I say if your car is black leave it alone, otherwise paint it.
