My tranny has seen better days, and as such I can name parts that need replacing without pulling the tranny: selector forks, 3rd gear synchros, clutch. I am on a tight budget and am fairly mechanically adept, however I do have the time required to do the rebuild, but not the specialized tools needed or experience in rebuilding transmissions. How difficult would it be to rebuild the transmission yourself, are there any good resources on the internet?

You may need some Tranny rebuilds are not for the faint of heart. You'll probably find it easier rebuilding the engine than the Transmission. If your fixed on doing it yourself then good luck.
