Bigger displacement is a plus to me. The aftermarket will be about the same for both, the plumbing really wouldn't scare me at all. I'd buy the STi just because the EVO is a mitsubishiti.

Well I have driven the EVO and think its THE fastest car for under $30,000. All you guys need to understand that the STI is $35,000 MSRP and has no freaken radio. Ya it has more power, but they had to cheat to get more power, 2.5 Vs 2.0, but the EVO still is faster due to the longer gears it has Vs the STI 6 speed, plus it hanndles sweet too.
Anyways you all talking about looks, well do you really think I'm going to keep it stock looking???? $hit look at my Contour, and remember I'm looking at a truck too

You realize that your EVO will most likely be a hair over $30k, unless you get it from a dealer like my city's dealer that can sell the two they have. And talk about cheating, mistu runs like 19psi while the sti runs around 12-14 psi or something like that. The STi handles plenty good too (push it like it needs to be pushed and it handles better than the EVO). As long as you don't keep it stock, I guess it'll be alright though it's gonna take a lotta work to get it looking spiffy. Now about a truck, what you looking at? Typhoon/Syclone, Lightning, Ram SRT-10? As long as you don't say SS you'll be ok.

But if you really want an ugly car.... sorta would be a downgrade in looks department going from CSVT to EVO.

I totally do not agree. I think the front of the Evo looks better than the front of the STi. And, hood scoops are 60's Detroit Iron crap! The tastefull intakes in the hood of the EVO are much nicer. As far as handling, I also do not agree. Every car magazine review agrees with me, the EVO handles better, with no understeer. The STi plows.

To each their own. That's what makes the world go round.

modded easier an cheaper i dont think so. Evo has twice as many parts out for it rite now an there alot cheaper... an the Evo still looks better.. me like big fmic stock. an yes they run more boost stock but they also spool up fater then the STI, so to me Mitsu must be summin right...

The EVO's hood isn't an intake and I wouldn't call it tasteful. The EVO handles better UNLESS YOU push the STi. The EVO feels a lot more stable and that's why many mag drivers get better lap times from it. While the STi doesn't feel real stable it can be pushed to have better times than the EVO even though it may feel a lot more comfortable doing it in the EVO. A company in motor trend's tuner section got 70hp to the wheels on a normal wrx with just exhaust, computer, and intercooler pipe. That and that the turbo (a mitsu turbo I believe) is running a lower PSI (meaning it can be pushed up some and still not be compromising to reliability) is enough for me to go for the STi.

Have you driven these cars?? If you had you would realize that what you just said is a load of crap. The fact is the STi understeers way more than the EVO...That, my friend, does not equate to fast lap times. When an understeering car is pushed, all it does is howl and burn up tires, with no more speed! I have driven them both. And I will tell you, from experience, that the EVO handles better. I have driven them, not on a dealer test drive, but with the press. So I have driven them hard! I have "pushed" them. I will grant you that the STi is probably a better car for most people to drive day-to-day. It is more compliant, more comfortable. But, for all out performance it is the loser between theese two cars. As to the looks, that is all subjective. I like the front of the EVO, you like the STi. You get the STi and I get the EVO and you won't have to look at the hood much, because all you will be seeing is my ass end.

OK there guys this is getting out of hand but I like it
Look what I have started,
Well I just wanted to let you nkow I work at a Mitsubishi Dealership and had to pick up an EVO to our store cause we sold all 3 of ours, last week. I drove one for about 50 miles from one dealership to another all by myself, needless to say I BEAT the $HIT our of her, "Drive it, like you stole it" came to mind, 80MPH then 100, then 120, sweet, smooth and easy.
Well enought said, I don;t wanta get beat for this up for this , but the contour sold so now I'm Contour less. I do have a few goodies laying around though
