I'm researching replacement tires for summer commuting and occasional autoX and track days. I've only heard good things about the Falken Azenis Sports and Goodyear Eagle F1-GS-D3's. But I would greatly appreciate any help if someone has knowledge or experience about both of these tires to help me decide. I'm staying with 205/55/16's on stock wheels. The Falkens are less expensive, sound stickier, wear faster, and have some complaints about high noise. The Eagles appear to be geared more towards high power cars and straight line traction, but have better treadlife and fewer complaints about noise. I'm leaning towards the Falkens. But if the Eagles stick about as good, I'm willing to put up the extra cash for better treadlife and less noise. General opinions are welcome too!

I havne't personally tried the Eagles, though I was concidering them at one time. Trust me when I say though that the Azenis will blow that tire away autoxing. There are only a few tires that can even compare in traction to the Azenis. One is the BFG KD and another is the Bridgestone PP S03 (in cold weather). Azenis are a good tire, expect only about 10K miles on them though if you race a full season. You'll be lucky to see 15K even without racing on them.

Azenis are awesome!!! Haven't tried the eagles. They are not really that loud either.

Really?! I've heard several serious autoxers up by me that said the Azenis weren't what they were cracked up to be... Personally I say go check a local STS near you and price the Toyo Proxes T1-S's. I LOVE mine.

I put the falken azenis on my relatively stock contour SVT...
These tires completely OWN in the dry. You wont believe the confidence they inspire in the corners. The first 500 miles they dont feel that impressive... but after a few good heat cycles... they cannot be touched. They're very inexpensive... just go with them... give them a shot.

Really? 90% of the nationally competitive people in street tire classes run them.

Falkens for 6 months now. No noise, wearing fine, great traction, for the money a great tire.

I'm thinking about starting to autox. I have my stock wheels and was planning on putting Azenis on them. What size would be better to run though 205/55 or 215/45. Wasn't 205/55 the stock size for the E0? Or would the slighly smaller profile of the 215/45 be better?

I am having 205/55/16 GSD-3s installed this week, they just came in on my order at Goodyear Tire. I have had Eagle F1s (205/55/16), BFG KDW (215/50/16) and BFG KDWS (225/50/16 - Current). I will post feedback later in the week.

225/45/16 is all I have to say on this and every other stock rim matter unless you want to run wider. If you want a 215 or 225, then just go with the 225/45/16 and forget about the 225/50/16
