My engine looses power for a moment and the red light from the security comes on What is this all about ? THANKS

maybe the belt slipping or wearing out? or the alternator on its way out? have no real clue just offering a thought or so

I have the same problem, but mine happens when I turn on my high beams, the car stutters and the red light comes on. Not sure what it is.

That happened to me just recently... took it to Auto Zone, my alternator was only pushing 85 amps when it normally pushes about 130. Might want to try that and see if it helps.

My RED light is the security light ?
I was driving at night and the lights did not DIM
Just a "jerk" type loss of power [3 times ] and i did about 2 hours of driving before it happened
Did not happen this weekend

I get that Jerking type power loss too. I wonder what the problem is.

Hey guys, check your Battery cables....If the terminals have any corrosion or battery acid, they replace the terminals and the battery....Thats what happends with mine, the acid was eating through the wires.
Evey time i would play with the high beams, the engine would shudder and sometimes shut off. And the red light would come one.....After i fix every thing, I was fine...check that out first.

I have ran into the same problem when I am running my Superchip. I called Superchip and complained and they said to make sure its secure. A little motion of the chip can shut the car of or almost shut if off and the red light goes on.

2 weeks later no problem but no long trips either
Might be the PATS system
Anyone had PATS problems ?

Yes, twice. First time the car wouldn't start, the red light flashed then stayed on for a while. Second time it came on, the car starts to bog down and then died. Both times due to a loose wire that the idiot dealer forgot to tighten when fixing a dash squeak.
BTW, my car is a 99 SE Sport 2.5L ATX
