I have a single Mtx thunder 6000 10" that I got off ebay and it came in this jenson bandpass box. It pretty boomy, but I like it for the most part. I dont have anything to compare it too, tho, since this is my first sub, and I haven
t heard any elses system. I know with bandpass boxes you have to built them to the subs specifications for it to sound right and was wondering if it would be a good idea to get a sealed or ported box. What would the difference be?

Also in the cone of my sub, around the Mtx logo, there is this glue like stuff, thats coming out of one side, and is on the window of my box. Its like hard crust and I know it shouldn't be doing that. It's not a lot but its still embarassing when trying to show my sub off. Any ideas on stopping that?

Bandpass is the best box you can get. What model of the Mtx thunder 6000 10" is it? T6104A, T61044A, T61012A??? If I Knew the model I would tell you the dimensions for a bandpass box. And either way, from my experience, I have found that even if you dont have the right dimensions for the box, it still sounds hella good. I have two 10" audiobahn flam compressions in a tiny tiny box, and it bumps hard..

Bandpass boxes are difficult to get to sound good. I have heard some very nice bandpass enclosures, but they are rare.

6000s, IIRC are not really well suited for anything but sealed enclosures, but if very high output was necessary, a ported box can work.

I can model some different options for you.

So getting a sealed box is the best option. How will that affect how loud and clear the bass is?

Personally, i prefer the sound of any sub in a sealed box versus a bandpass, but in a bandpass it would probably be "louder".
