Brand new issue, just got it yesterday... There's a company that now makes custom finger followers for the 4.6 mod engines. From the pictures of the stock ones, the 4.6 followers *look* exactly like the Duratec's. Solid lash adjusters are included too for manual lash adjustment... The mild compression, big cammed 4.6 Cobra engine made 35 HP at peak with no other mods!!! The gains at 7000 RPM kept increasing to 40 HP!!!
Now, before you start thinking we would see the same gains on a 2.5L or 3L, smack yourself in the face, wipe the drool off of the keyboard, and read on.
The smaller cam in the 2.5L and 3L wouldn't push the hydraulic lash adjusters near as hard as the aftermarket cammed Cobra engine did at lower RPM. But, at higher RPM, hydraulic lash adjusters tend to lose their composure, which can result in a spit finger follower, or damaged cam lobe. These aftermarket finger followers were not originally intended for a huge HP gain, but for improved high RPM durability... That being said, who's up to see how much HP we would gain?
The news gets even better... The lash adjusters and finger followers can be installed
WITHOUT removing the engine!!!

Pull the intake, then the valve covers, move the cams to their 15 degree window, pump down the lifters, and slide the fingers and adjusters out to put the new ones in!!! Adjust the lash on each new follower, and reassemble. Who knows... a couple of hours to gain maybe 10 HP... 15 HP???
Throw these adjusters in a new 3L hybrid, large valve heads, along with some speculated adjustable cam sprokets, and hello 8,000 RPM redline for daily driving!!!

Oh, did I tell you? I called them up (their shop was closed) and will be calling them back to see about getting one lifter to compare side by side to see if they'll fit before drooling any more.

I'm also going to have them send me a couple of Cobra valves if they have any to compare stem length and diamter also... big
BIG valve heads...
