Friday took the car to Ford about the scate park on the dash. And they said their was a kit to fix it till they saw the dash. They told me that the recall on the dashes was terminated, and I was stuck with it. Then he told me to call on June 10th that it is suppose to be reactiveted and they would replace the dash if it is reactivated. Anybody heard this crap yet. Oh yea I called custimer relations and had to explain what the dash was. Yea that helped, wasted my time, that is what that call did.

Effective May 30 or 31, 2002, Ford quit offering to fully replace the dashes in response to Dealer complaints and the high amount of dash replacements. They have gone to a simpler and cheaper plan of repair kits, which are in the process of being sent and implemented by the dealers. The program has been suspended until June 10 in order the get the program fully implemented. So basically you will have to wait till June 10th to get your dash fixed and it will not be replaced, but rather repaired. I have also heard that the new repaired dashes will have a new piece that fits over the current defroster vent.

that's hilarious. I bet that 'new' piece is actually something they decontented (and are now having to recontent). I have one and my dash is warp-free. Go Ford!

The guy that looked at mine said they will replace the dash, cause it is in really bad shape. The heat is just pealing it like mad. He said the kit is for dashes with less warpage than mine.

I guess heat does really weird things to our cars. I was just at meet this weekend and someone told me something pretty shocking; In the Western US, places where it gets really hot have problems with Ford Contour moonroofs actually MELTING the gears!

That would sux, but it is going to be 105 t-day. So the temp of the car would be outragous. Seems this stuff would be built better.

I just had the repair kit done in May. Dealer did a terrible job and it looks worse than before. TAlk about a butchered band-aid job. The clips or rivits have pulled down some areas, but not evenly. Now the defroster area is all wavey and distorted. mad

I took it back yesterday for them to correct it and now they have now ordered me a new "revised dash kit" from Ford. Now I'll have to schedule another date for that installation. I just hope this revised kit isn't a "shag-carpeted dash pad"! wink I'll keep you updated with the progress.

Yea a dash pad and super glue. That stinks, you would think on a recall they would fix it not make things worse.
