Not sure that this has been posted, so FWIW heres some scoop on the Ford 500 that is planned for sale in 2004. Base engine is 3L Duratec. Looks like maybe a 5 Pas. crown vic replacement.

It a replacement for the Taurus, I believe and this is the third/fourth posting I've seen about it!

The taurus will conintue past '04, mostly as a cheap rental car.

In the article it says the Taurus will be maintained as the top selling vehicle blah blah blah .... (At least for a while anyway)

They are cutting production of the Taurus in half because one of the two plants that produces them is going to produce the 500. If thats not close to a reaplacement, I don't know what is! They are doing a phase in phase out thing like they did with the Escort and Focus! It's only a matter of time!
