ok so I'm a fairly well traveled guy but I never really made it a point to vacation in my home state. In all seriousness I have not been up North or even to the west side of Michigan since I was a young buck before I can remember. [insert todras "city folk" joke here]. So now I've got the urge to see whats happening on the west side of the state for a weekend in late August to celebrate the 4th anniversary with the g/f

I was wondering if some of you fellow michiganders could point me in the right direction as to what towns I should visit, what is fun to do and where some good places to stay are. im not a big fan of the bed & breakfast thing either so unless its a cant miss thing, id rather not go to one of those. I heard St. Joseph is a nice city so we might go check that out or maybe we'll go up to Mackinac Island. Any advice would really be appreciated though because I made the mistake of focusing too much on my car this past year instead of the girlfriend so I have my work cut out to make this memorable.

if you are a golfer make sure to hit the course there on the island... I had a good time with that.

LMAO @ Rog.

Ludington is nice. Where I grew up. I vote for the Sleeping Bear Dunes area. Nice kayaking on the Platt River and nice camping facilites.

If you're going to Macinaw then you have to drive 119. Sweet as hell road.

Start south in Petosky and head north. Between the red circles.

Hey Todd, give Terry a map showing how to get to Saugatuc, I'm sure he'll love that town

I used to live about 10minutes from St. Joe, its a nice area, but it is real close to Benton Harbor. there are a lot of campgrounds between Saugatuck & Holland, but just keep in mind the closer you get to Saugatuck the women get tougher and then men get prettier... (where's the rainbow smiley when ya need it )

actually the whole coast except Pullman has some pretty nice areas, all depends on what you are wanting.
