My girlfriend and I are going out to Cape Cod next Friday, for the weekend. I've heard some horror stories about driving out there. Can you guys suggest the best time to leave from the NYC area to avoid some of the Cape Cod traffic?

Oh yeah, if you see a Silver Frost SVT, with NJ tags, honk!

Sup Shaggy - Depending on what area of NYC you are at - it will probably take ~5 hours to get there.

You wanna get to the cape in either the morning or early afternoons. Avoid the traffic rush of around 3pm-6pm. Its pretty busy - HOWEVER, you're coming at a pretty quiet weekend so I don't suspect tooooo much traffic. Nothing you NewYorkas can't handle. lol.

So - just do the math and depending on how fast you drive, give or take a half hour or so.

Or -- if your girl is anything like my fiance....it'll take 6-7 hours - "Babe - I gotta pee again!"

BTW - you'll be coming RIGHT by my area - Interstate 195-East - North Dartmouth and Westport area! Enjoy the ride!

LATER!

I would say defently not on the weekend if you can leave during the week you will be all set, Or travel at night if you can....We went down on Tues from CT and no traffic at all, was the fastest time yet, but we left on saturday and going home over the Bourne brigde, which you may go over, i think there are 2 bridges, was backed way up, i think it was about 13-15 miles of traffic, stopped, it was around 2:30pm, it was nuts..

Have fun!!

Matt

take friday off and leave thursday night. the traffic at the bridges is bad after about 9AM. so, if you couldn't take friday off, then leave around 3 AM on saturday morning and the ride should be quite smooth.

Thanks guys!

I should be leaving sometime around noon tomorrow. I'm first picking up my g/f, then taking I84 up to 91. I need to double check though. Yes, the 'tour is making the trip up! We are staying at the Bay View Resort, for 2 nights. I really don't know much more, as I'm in at Denver International Airport, using their phat WiFi!

Edit:
Oh yeah, I used to date a girl in RI, exit 5 off of 95, 220 miles away. I used to make it to her house in 2:20! I have also made it to Boston in 3.5 hours, Franklin to be specific. I'm 18 miles NW of NYC... heh heh heh, I drive kind of fast.
