I have a mtx amp 1500 watts and it says that i need a new battery and run 0 or 1 guage wire or i'll have alternator problems. I have two audiobahn's and I was just wondering if there is any way I could get this setup to work without having any problems, suggestions please!!!!

What model is the amp? If it's the only amp your going to use, 4 awg would probably be ok. Just make sure to have the proper size fuse in the fuse holder and I would recommend at least a 1 farad cap. You can get a digital cap so you can see exactly how much voltage your getting. Don't quote me on the 4 awg though, I'd like to know the model # of the amp first so I can check out it's specs.

I just read some reviews about this amp and though they were generally good, some were pretty bad and for good reason. Supposedly this amp has a 150 amp fuse and draws a shat load of current. Damn, I don't know what to say..... Which audiobahn subs are you going to run and what impedance will they be running at? Personally I think "depending on the models of the subs" it might be a good idea to get a different amp. This is just alot of current from ONE amp. You can get a great amp that will probably put out enough power for your subs that only draws 60 amps or so. If your stuck with this amp you probably do have to use 0 awg wire and you'll be putting alot of strain on your alternator. Do you really want to use this amp, or is getting another one an option? Let me know the model of the subs and I can get a better idea whether or not you need an amp that draws this much current. sorry for the bad news, but this is just my observation and opinion. Just to give an example, I use PPI art series amps in my setup and I believe the A600 draws 60 amps and I'm sure that amp would be more than adequate for your subs "depending on the model".

No problem. I would sell that beast and maybe look into a jbl 1200.1 I'm not sure of the current it draws but I'm pretty sure it's nowhere near what your current amp draws. Also, if you don,t mind buying used I would look into a PPI A600.2 You'll need a crossover though because it doesn't have one built in. This amp is always available on ebay and it's a fantastic amp. They're also very under-rated. For instance I'm using the A300.2 for 2 jl 10w3's and though it supposedly only puts out 150x2, They sound amazing. I'm sure some others will chime in with some more suggestions. Good luck.
